Insurance & Rates

Let's get the money question out of the way.

How payment works at Silver Strides, in plain language, before you have to call and ask.

If Medicare Is Your Primary Insurance

I'm a Medicare participating provider, so if Medicare is your primary insurance, you're covered here.

You don't need a referral to start. California is a direct access state for physical therapy, which means you can book directly with me. For Medicare patients, I fax my evaluation to your physician so your care stays coordinated and everything stays properly documented. Your evaluation will be sent to your doctor to sign off on the treatment plan for ongoing care to be covered.

If You Have Any Other Insurance

For every insurance other than Medicare, Silver Strides is a cash based practice.

That's a deliberate choice. Insurance networks dictate how long sessions run, how many visits get approved, and what treatment counts as reimbursable. Working outside that means your plan is built around what you need, and your 45 minutes stay 45 minutes.

I provide a superbill after your visits, which is an itemized receipt with the codes your insurance needs. You submit it directly and many plans reimburse a portion under out of network benefits. Coverage varies, so it's worth a call to your insurer to ask about out of network physical therapy benefits before you start.

An Option Worth Knowing About

For some conditions, there's an alternative to booking visit by visit. After your initial evaluation, you can purchase a plan of care package that covers the full program of exercises and progressions you need to finish your rehab and hit your goals.

It suits people who want the whole roadmap up front rather than a running tab of follow up appointments. I'll tell you at your evaluation whether it makes sense for what you have.

Common Questions

Do I need a referral? No. California is a direct access state, so you can see me without one. For Medicare patients I fax my evaluation to your physician. Your evaluation will be sent to your doctor to sign off on the treatment plan for ongoing care to be covered.

How many visits will I need? It depends on the condition. Vertigo often responds within 2 to 3 sessions at minimum. Other conditions take longer. You'll get a realistic estimate at your evaluation, not a vague answer.
